FLORESVILLE, Texas – The tragic incident in Sutherland Springs has impacted the entire area surrounding San Antonio and the state. Particularly the districts in which Sutherland Springs students attend, one being Floresville ISD.
During the Floresville game this week against San Antonio Southside, the two sides will be uniting. In a press release, the two school districts are asking every one to be “United in grief, United in hope.”
The release asks all fans to wear white in support of all those lost or injured in the incident from this past weekend.
“As we move forward with our children in the days to come, it is comforting to see and feel the support that surrounds us,”Floresville Superintendent Dr. Sherri Bays said. “Standing together strengthens us. The attendance and spirit of love means more to us than you may ever know.”
Southside Superintendent Mark E. Eads also released a statement in the release. He said Southside ISD will always be there to support when needed.
“Our children always come first,” Eads said. “Southside is here to support our sister schools in whatever way we can. Our hearts and prayers are with Floresville and all the other districts affected.”
Earlier today, we spoke with coach Ricky Lock about the show of support both sides will be doing.
“I don’t know if you can ever get your mind completely off of it but it does give an outlet to bring something to a sad situation,” Lock said. “Just a few hours to maybe help relieve the thoughts of people. I think it helps in the healing process.”
The game is Friday at Eschenburg Field in Floresville. Kickoff is at 7:30.
