Another trade deadline has passed this November and, of course, some of the shipped athletes have Texas high school football connections.
Here are the Lone Star State background of the players that are now competing for new teams this season:
Baron Browning LB (Denver Broncos to Arizona Cardinals)
Texas HS Connection: Browning attended Kennedale as a five star recruit. As a senior, he was one of the top linebacker prospects in the nation, earning No. 1 outside linebacker distinctions from 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout, as well as a No. 2 ranking by ESPN.
In 2016, Browning helped Kennedale to an 11-4 season, leading his team all the way to the Texas 4A state semifinals for the first time in school history. He totaled 81 tackles, 10 TFLs, and 10 PBUs that season.
In 2017, he competed in the U.S. Army All American Bowl and was named a finalist for the Butkus Award.
Browning graduated as a two-time first-team all-state honoree and accounted for eight forced fumbles.
Roy Robertson-Harris, DT (Jacksonville Jaguars to Seattle Seahawks)
Texas HS Connection: Although he saw limited play at South Grand Prairie, serving primarily as a backup at defensive end his junior year, Robertson-Harris stayed focus, often waking up every morning at 5 a.m. with his father to run and lift weights before school. Putting in the work paid off in his senior season, when the 6-foot-6, 260-pounder started, posting 75 tackles, including 26 for losses, nine sacks, eight pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery at both defensive end and outside linebacker.
Obtaining a three-star rating across the board from recruiters, Robertson-Harris collected first team All-Area and All-District 5-5A defense selections.
After graduating, Robertson-Harris stayed local, competing with UTEP for five years, after redshirting his freshman season. He graduated with a degree in Communications and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2016.
