De’Corian “JT” Clark had himself a day.

The UTSA senior and former O.D. Wyatt standout surpassed the 1,000-yard total for his career last week against the Longhorns. This Saturday, in a 52-24 drubbing against Texas Southern, Clark made his mark again, breaking a school record for most receiving yards, accounting for 219 yards.

He also tied his own UTSA record with three scores.

“I think it’s always meaningful to be a part of history at UTSA. To make history wherever I am. To make a name for myself is pretty good, I think,” Clark said in the post-game press conference.

It’s definitely something he’s always done, even back when he was donning the Chaparrals uniform.

In 2018, Clark lead the Chaparrals to the Class 5A Division II playoffs, where he turned in a season-high 239 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The season prior, Clark garnered over 7,000 yards through the air. Outside of football, he was also multi-skilled athlete with Wyatt, earning runner-up honors as a long jumper at the Class 5A state meet as a senior and also competing in varsity basketball.

“Put it in his direction, and he’s going to make a play,” quarterback Frank Harris said. “Sometimes I throw it, and I don’t even know how he catches the ball.”

The goal was never to compete for yardage or touchdowns. Clark has maintained a team mindset, something he’s always had since his time with the Chaparrals.

“(It’s) one for all, and all for one. Whether it’s anybody, anybody scores like that, we go to the other side of the field with them.”

After the game, Clark was honored as a player of the week by ESPN, earning a helmet sticker after his monstrous game.

Clark and the Roadrunners start their Conference play this Friday against Middle Tennessee.
