We are happy to report this update!
Last night, we reported that Runge was canceling their football season due to their COVID-19 policies causing issues with fielding a team. Runge had already been struggling to have enough players on their squad. They went into the season with 16 players listed on their roster, and other news outlets reported that they were down to 13 players, making it difficult to play 11-man football.
In a 4-3 vote last night, the Runge Independent School District Trustees voted to switch to Six-Man football, starting immediately. This is great news for the players on the team who will now get the chance to compete on the field. In our story last night, we hinted towards a switch to six-man for Runge, though we did not anticipate that the ISD would rally so quickly and make the switch this year. Huge kudos to all involved in making this happen for the players.
