Krum was one of 42 teams playing in a “win-or-go-home” game this past week.
All the Bobcats needed to earn their first playoff berth since 2016 was a win over Gainesville.
Everything was looking good after a quarter of play as the Bobcats led 24-0. However, the Leopards came roaring back to take a 35-31 lead in the third quarter.
Krum running back Haidyn Jones answered with a 57-yard touchdown to give the Bobcats the lead back and the defense made some key stops in the fourth quarter, including a late game interception by Case Pitt Janopoulos, as Krum held onto a 41-35 victory.
Quarterback Ty Taber made a number of big plays on the night. He completed just six passes, but those completions went for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 48 yards and another touchdown. Jones led the Bobcat ground game with 103 rushing yards.
With its ticket punched, Krum will now turn its attention to its bi-district showdown against 8-2 Sunnyvale. That game will kick off on Friday at 7:00 in Princeton.
