5A Team of the Week: Pflugerville Panthers
The most dramatic ending of this past week happened in Pflugerville, Texas.
Pflugerville needed a win in order to make the playoffs, while Connally was looking to play spoiler.
The game went into overtime, and it looked like Connally was going to strike first.
What happened next was incredible.
Connally tried a pitch play, but Pflugerville linebacker Brandon Bradshaw intercepted it and took it 80 yards back for the game-winning score.

It was a remarkable ending to a roller coaster of a regular season for Pflugerville. After an 0-6 start, the Panthers won three of their next four games to secure their first playoff berth since 2020.
And while the defense made the play of the game, Pflugerville’s backfield also had a big night. Quarterback Cole Taylor threw for 204 yards and a score, while Rhyder Miller added 151 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Pflugerville will be hoping for some more magic coming up this week as it takes on 7-3 Austin LBJ on Friday in the bi-district round.
