College Station’s rivalry showdown with A&M Consolidated didn’t disappoint.
Heading into last Friday, the Cougars were 5-0 against their archrivals.
Make that 6-0.
Arrington Maiden connected with Jake Peveto for the game-winning score with just 16 seconds left in the game. With the victory, College Station locks up the District 11-5A Division I title. It’s the third-straight year the Cougars have earned at least a share of the title.
With the game in the balance, Arrington Maiden lobs one up to Jake Peveto who plucks it off the defender for the go ahead score with 16 seconds left in the game.
Maiden threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns, while Peveto had four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns. However, it was the College Station ground game that stole the show. Aydan Martinez-Brown racked up 243 yards and three touchdowns as the Cougars finished with 363 yards on the ground.
After Friday’s big win, College Station will wrap up its regular season with a matchup against Hendrickson next Friday before beginning a postseason run that it hopes will end with its third-straight state championship game appearance.
