Six-Man Team of the Week: Borden County Coyotes
A year ago, Borden County missed the playoffs for the first time since 2007. Evidently, that didn’t sit well with the Coyotes.
Last week, the 10th-ranked Coyotes traveled to ninth-ranked Rankin for a showdown for first place in the district standings.
And although Borden County may have fallen short to the Red Devils 44-34 last season, it wasn’t losing this time around. Rhett Kingston rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown while Ishmael Rodriguez added 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns as Borden County knocked off Rankin 42-30. Rodriguez also threw for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Hagan Gordon was the Coyotes’ top receiver with four catches for 95 yards.
Defensively, Kingston had 19 total tackles, while Datch Flanigan and Koda Bigham each had 17.

With the win, the Coyotes are now 3-0 in district play ahead of their final regular season game against Grady this Friday. With a victory in that contest, the Coyotes would clinch their 15th district title in 16 years.
