Happy is off to its third-straight semifinal, but it didn’t come easy.
Miami took the Cowboys all the way to overtime, but in the end, a 25-yard touchdown run by Joey Blackmon was the difference as the Cowboys won 30-22.
Blackmon scoring what would end up being the game-winning touchdown was a fitting end to the evening. He was Happy’s most productive offensive player, finishing with 115 yards rushing and a touchdown. Among Happy’s other ball-carriers, Noe Juarez rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, while Jaxon Stoker added 61 yards and a score himself.
Defensively, Cowboy nose guard Mason Hix made his presence felt in the trenches as he had 16 total tackles.

Happy will now turn its attention to trying to make school history. The Cowboys have never made a state championship game, falling to Westbrook in the state semifinals each of the past two seasons. They’ll get another shot at the Wildcats on Friday at 6:30 at Lubbock Christian.
